The Dolphin Project

SURVEY Q & A
Release Forms and Registration forms are required for participation in a TDP survey. These forms are available on this website.
What if I regsiter for a survey but find out I can't go?
Contact your Team Leader and HERB JOE at 770-934-4489 IMMEDIATELY. Your boat and team members may need to be reconfigured or cancelled and will need to be notified as soon as possible.
Your survey fees will be credited toward your next survey. You MUST register for your next survey and make a notation on that form that you have a survey fee credit.
If you wish to have a refund, mail your request to Treasurer, The Dolphin Project, POBox 60753, Savannah GA 31420.
What should I bring?
Be prepared for ANY type of weather. Bring rain gear. In cold weather, layers of clothing are recommended. Remember to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, non-skid shoes, and a billed cap or visor to reduce glare. Bring your lunch unless notified that you will be eating in a restaurant.
Saturday Night Social & Dinner?
TDP holds quarterly dinner/socials after the scheduled surveys in January, April, July and October. Details will be sent to you via email regarding the time and place of the dinner/social and the scheduled speaker. This is a great opportunity to swap stories with other team members, learn more about our dolphins and coastal envirtonment, and purchase TDP merchandise.
What happens if the weather is bad?
It is highly unlikely that weather will not allow surveying in at least some of our zones for a scheduled survey. Stay in close touch with your Team Leader and Skipper. They will provide all the details and the Skipper makes the final decision whether weather conditions permit safe boating. High winds or thunderstorms may cause a survey period or a portion of a survey to be cancelled. Rain does not constitute a survey to be cancelled. In the event of major weather problems affecting the total survey, you will be notified by the Thursday prior to the survey.
I don't live on the coast so where should I stay?
Speak to your Team Leader regarding your assigned zone so that you can choose lodging near your zone or at the same hotel as other team members.
Many of you may want to ride together or stay in the same hotel. Occassionally another team member may offer overnight accommodations at their coastal home to out of town members. Please feel free to make your own arrangements. Listed below are a few of the hotels & motels near the zone areas. If you like a facility with reasonable pricing that you would could recommend, please let us know.
